Fantasy Name Generators, Built for the Table

LinkedWriter is a small collection of naming tools for tabletop games, fiction, and worldbuilding. Every generator here produces names in a specific, consistent register — not random syllable soup, but names that sound like they belong to a place, a person, or a people who've actually lived through something. Pick a chapter below and start drawing names.

Why these tools work the way they do

Most name generators either bolt syllables together at random or lean so hard on one fantasy franchise that everything sounds borrowed. LinkedWriter takes a narrower approach: each generator draws from its own small, deliberately built vocabulary — a set of prefixes, suffixes, and flavor text written specifically for that category — so a dungeon name and a tavern name never accidentally sound like they came from the same machine.

That's also why the tools are split into separate pages instead of one big generator with a dropdown. A dungeon needs to sound like a threat. A tavern needs to sound like a place you'd actually walk into. Keeping them separate keeps the output honest.

Frequently asked questions

Are these names free to use?

Yes. Every name generated on LinkedWriter is free to use in your home campaign, published adventure, novel, or any other creative project, with no attribution required.

Do I need an account to use the generators?

No account, no sign-up, no installation. Each tool runs directly in your browser and generates new names instantly every time you use it.

Can I get the same name twice?

It's possible, since each generator draws from a fixed set of building blocks, but the combinations are wide enough that repeats are uncommon across a normal session of use.
